Wednesday was the start of the Beastway mtb event run by SIP events
L’il Beasts is for under 12s I was against a few riders from Team Darenth who I have only race on the road before now so wasn’t quite sure of my fellow riders strengths.
The race was two laps but about 10 minutes per lap. I had ridden the track a few times but not the course that was laid out today. The start was on the energy draining grass once on the main course It had lots of twists which I enjoyed. I led from the start and thought the chasing riders were right on my tail but my Dad said that on the first climb I made little distance once into the wooded section I began my attack.
I made more time, along the twists I was out on my own. The course was well laid out and marked. By my second lap I had around 1 minute on the chasing rides I dug in for the final lap to finish in first place.
This weekend see’s the start of the mud sweat and gears. I’m hoping to make a good challenge for the under 12s.
If you are new to Mud Sweat & Gears it’s a great event and really well run with plently of communications from the G and Matt.
Just come and have a go even if your young, I was only 6 years old when I first raced.
