Round up of the weeks action
Summer in the Park
The sun was shining and to our surprise their was not much wind around which meant the group rode a tight race with no attacks and only a couple of riders being dropped. The race finished with a sprint and H finished in 4th place
LVYCC round two of the Summer series.
Once again a field of 35 riders took to the road, the plan for Harrison to break with Owen didn’t work out for them. The bunch stayed tight until the final hill when Harrison put a great attack in to reach the top of the hill first his efforts soon went down as the other riders past him on the final down hill. Big congrats goes to the winner Liam Hanks from B&D team for his first win, a very strong rider showing great promise for the future. H held onto 5th place.
Beastway 2
Noah Charlton lead from the start with Harrison holding onto his wheel for a really good tight battle until 1/2 way round on the second lap when Noah broke away and held a gap to take victory. Good race for them both. CJ rode two laps and came 4th place overall.
This was my first opportunity to put some points in the bag after the Tunstall incident “The wrong way”. With my road commitments riding the Nationals the weekend of Codham I was looking forward Thetford and had been working on MTB training at the Club and was in fairly good shape, thank you Tony and the Guys at LVYCC coaching team.
Because of my poor result at Tunstall and missing a race I was called to the grid fairly late I managed to pick a spot next to my buddy William Davies. We were both one row back.
This course was around one and half miles long and plenty of open space to pass riders.
We were off, quite a messy start as William and I could get a clean line to the first bend, we were 5th and 6th position into the bend. I managed to pick off all of the riders to hit the front for the 1st lap along with Josun Cole.
We had a very slight lead on my LVYCC team mate Felix Mackie on lap one and William around 10 seconds back. By lap two Felix had made ground and was in the hunt for positions. As field spread out passing was made difficult and our lap times slowed down. Sadly Felix punctured on lap three and it was left to Josun and me to battle it out for 1st and 2nd place with us being equal on time on lap 3.
Both pushing hard disaster struck for me, a younger racer crashed in front of me this took me off the course and I crashed losing any chance of taking a the win.

As always the event is really well run and thanks to the team at Mud Sweat and Gears and Timber for making such a great course.
This Sunday took us for a race in Norwich to give the NCA Spring Circuits Series a go!! Technically the most challenging road circuit / airport car park Harrison has ever ridden.

Tonight was the 1st of 8 races at cyclopark at gravesend. Harrison 1st lap was not good as he had a mechanical. With one lap out, he was allowed to continue the race. Tonight he was feeling the effects of an infection that he had earlier in the week and with two laps to go dropped back from the lead pack to finish the race without contesting.
No racing last weekend, so on Sunday Harrison 10 and Aaron Stone 11 complete a 50 mile bike ride in the Lee Valley Youth cycling club colours.
The ride was in aid of the Js hospice in Chelmsford Essex. The ride took them thought beautiful Essex countryside. Both boys got comments from a number of riders on route for calling cars / pot holes and their bike handling skills.
Quite funny at the end when the kind lady from the Hospice thanked them for doing the ride and asked them if they had done the 15 or 35 mile ride for them to both reply at the same time no the 50, her face was a picture of disbelief.
Well done to the Js Hospice for putting on a good event!
Cat C under 12s at Hog Hill for the first of the Summer series. With 49 riders on the start sheet it was going to be a test for each and every rider who pinned a number on, with the long climb every lap this is not the norm for this category. 1st lap a large bunch of around 20 riders formed they climbed well with fresh legs.
Whilst they made it into the centre area together, on lap one an early attack saw the field break up and a group of seven riders formed 6 boys and one girl this group stayed together for the remainder of the race with the strong Girl dropping back a little on lap 4. On the bell there was a massive attack on the front group and four of the six boys went clear down the hill. Aaron Freeman and Harrison had some traffic on the decent and both played it safe which was the right thing to do.
This for me was one of the best races of the early season with the break forming early to take the race to a whole new level, with the riders providing attacks and great climbing it was a joy to watch.
The four leading riders battled hard for the points which went to:
1. Alexi Edwards
2. Thomas Gloag
3. Noah Charlton
4. Owen Williams
5. Aaron Freeman
6. Harrison Powell
