Firstly, the days racing was in memorial to Alan Rosner [1941–2012] who passed away last year after working tirelessly in the cycling community and with Eastern Region Youth & Junior racers. The organisation and racing was a credit to his name and the funds raised will be used to purchase a memorial bench to be placed at Hog Hill where he spent many enjoyable hours watching the action.Alans daughter Nikki had looked after Harrison when he was knee high to a grass hopper at nursery which kinda made this race a bit special for us.
Onto the action with the wind playing its part in this race it took off very quickly Lee Valley found themselves at the front of the field. With Arron Stone, George Pace and H setting a quick tempo. They shook off a few riders but in the main as they faced the wind the group slowed to allow the back markers a place in the bunch. There were some good attacks by a number of riders but none could form the all important break. On the bell with the wind at there tails it was up the hill for the finish into the alpine. Harrison got a great start to the hill and looked really strong with William Davis looking tremendous the battle commenced with the pack breaking up into the alpine. Will had got the bit between his teeth and picked up 3 BC points well deserved. Harrison held onto 5th place which was good. |
